Highfields U13B Hotshots 2 – Souths Hawks U/13B’s 3.
The Hotshots showed real strength of character to come back after being down 3 nil at half time. In the second half they denied Hawks any further goals but unfortunately weren’t able to score a third goal themselves to force the game into extra time.
Both of the designated Hotshot goalkeepers were unable to play in the Preliminary Final, the first having previously sustained a broken arm and the second at training last week, dislocated his knee.
It was a tremendous effort by the Hotshots all round. It was a game and a season that they can be very proud of. Congratulations coach, Phil Gilbert and the whole Hotshots team – a fantastic Season!!!

Highfields U12A Cobras 1 – West Wanderers 2.
Wanderers scored within the first 5 minutes of the game and lead until the last 5 minutes when the Cobras scored to equalise the game. At 1 goal each, it looked like they were going into extra time but in the last seconds before full time, West Wanderers scored to win 2 – 1. Coach, Bruce Krause was very proud of his players, it was a good even game all the way through and was played in good spirit. Although disappointed not to get through to the Grand Final, he was very pleased with the team’s achievements throughout the 2011 Season.

The score, Gatton 4 def. Highfields 1 did not reflect the performance of the Highfields Ladies today. The Highfields Ladies had much of the play throughout and created quite a few goal scoring opportunities, but unfortunately could not turn these opportunities into goals. Congratulations to Coach, Keren Thomas and her team in their Inaugural year. It has been a most enjoyable and fantastic success story for all concerned. You have done us proud!!!

There was great excitement in the Semi-final today for our Highfields Premier Ladies, they defeated the Willowburn Premier ladies after the score being 2 all at full time, 2 all after extra time and finally keeping a clean sheet in a Penalty Shoot Out, Highfields scored 4 goals to Willowburn’s 1 goal. It was a triumphant win for our Highfields ladies, they now look forward to playing Gatton next Sunday in the Preliminary Final.
Good luck to our Highfields Premier Ladies.

Unfortunately, our Minor Premiers and also undefeated for the season, the U13B Hotshots went down to the U13B Rockville Stingers 2 goals to Nil. Being Minor Premiers, will give the Hotshots a second chance at reaching the Grand Final. They must now be successful next weekend in the Preliminary Final when they meet the Hawks Breakers. A win in the Preliminary Final will put them up against the Rockville Stingers in the Grand Final. Good Luck to the U13B Highfields Hotshots. We’ll be cheering for you.

Under very wet conditions today at the Captain Cook fields, the U12A Cobras defeated the U12A Withcott team 5 goals to 1. This win for the Cobras will mean a Preliminary Final next weekend. We wish them all the best as they take on the West Wanderers Wizards.

Unfortunately our Colts missed out on a top 4 spot on the Results Table. The Colts can be very proud of their good sportsmanship and the fantastic games they played throughout the season. Congratulations to you all. Many games were brilliant, displaying team work, speed, skill and determination, it was great to watch. With 8 drawn games during the season, dominating most games and ending in a draw, the Colts were unlucky not to win some of those games.
There is always next season and we would like to invite all our Highfields Colts players back to play in 2012. Congratulations Coach, Dave Nicholls for all the fine work that you do in building a great team!

Coach Murray Duncan and his U14/15B team had a great 2011 season. It was encouraging to see six girls playing in this team. All boys and girls in our Highfields team were U14 players, so at times they were up against teams with a lot of U15 players. Our players rose to the challenge and can be proud of finishing the season just below a top 4 spot on the Results Table. Thanks Murray for your commitment and congratulations also for giving our players the courage to achieve some great results during the 2011 season. We hope to see all our U14′s back for more great games in 2012.
